Song To A Seagull (1968) - rating: ***
She was already famous for writing songs for other people but known of these songs were on this album. Although David Crosby's production makes it a good experience. Highlights are: "Michael from Mountains" and "Night in the City".

Clouds (1969) - rating: ****
Finally she does her own versions of songs she wrote for other's. Like "Chelsea Morning" which was a hit for Judy Collins. A big step forward.

Ladies Of The Canyon (1970) - rating: *****
Her first brilliant album. "For Free", her biggest hit: "Big Yellow Taxi" and her own version of "The Circle Game" are present. This is the best place to start with if you want to explore Joni Mitchell. Read my review here.

Blue (1971) - rating: ****
A very personal album about her troubled relationships with Cary Raditz and Graham Nash.

For The Roses (1972) - rating: *****
An overlooked album which I really like.

Court And Spark (1974) - rating: *****
She could really need a change in style with some jazz influences. That is what happens here at the right moment.

The Hissing Of Summer Lawns (1975) - rating: *****
She moves to experimental pop music. Read my review here.

Hejira (1976) - rating: *****
Her last great album. Every song is terrific.

Don Juan's Reckless Daughter (1977) - rating: ***
She attempts to introduce some latin American influences.

Mingus (1979) - rating: **
This time she writes songs with jazz musician Charles Mingus and turns out to be a big disappointment.
