U.K.was a super band formed by many legendary progressive rock musicians. Mainly by John Wetton and Eddie Jobson. They released 2 albums at the end of the seventies.
U.K. Holdsworth/Bruford/Wetton/Jobson
It all started in an attempt to reform the band King Crimson by Bill Bruford and John Wetton. First they approached Rick Wakeman (Yes) but his record label refused to let their star go. Then they asked Robert Fripp who actually decided earlier to break up King Crimson. But he was still not interested. Then it was decided both Bruford and Wetton suggested someone who the've worked with. Wetton stealed Eddie Jobson from Zappa. Wetton worked with Jobson as musicians for Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry. Bruford came up with Allan Holdsworth who played on Bruford's debut solo album.

John Wetton (lead vocals/bass):
He played in a lot of bands including: King Crimson, Uriah Heep (Easy Living), Mogul Thrash, Family and Asia (In The Heat Of The Moment).

Eddie Jobson (keyboards/violin):
Started his career with the band Curved Air and then replaced Brian Eno in Roxy Music. After leaving Roxy Music he joined the band from Frank Zappa.

Bill Bruford (drums):
Played in King Crimson and Yes before he joined U.K.

Allan Holdsworth (guitar):
Played in Gong and Soft Machine. In the 90's he worked with Level 42.

Terry Bozzio (Percussion):
Played in Missing Persons with Warren Cuccurullo (who briefly joined duran duran) and was part of the band from Frank Zappa. Also worked with Mick Karn (from Japan)

U.K. (first album) - 1978
The first album started with the "In the Dead Of Night" suite consisting of the first 3 tracks. "Thirty Years" is best remembered by the fantastic drummming of Bill Bruford. "Alaska" is written by Jobson alone, and proves to be a highlight.

After the first album and tour Holdsworth was fired and Bruford left the band.

Danger Money - 1979
Eddie Jobson invited another former member of Frank Zappa`s band , Terry Bozzio, to join U.K. for the recording of their second album titled "Danger Money".

"Danger Money" is a very traditional symfo rock opener followed by the most successfull single released by the band "Rendezvous 6:02"."Ceasar's Palace Blues" shows Bozzio's chops and power as well as violin play by Jobson. "The Only Thing She Needs" is another traditional symfo rock song starting with a trademark drum intro by Terry Bozzio. "Nothing to Lose" is another single potential song just under 4 minutes. "Carrying no Cross" is keyboard heaven. I personally prefer this second and last studio album by U.K. because of the instrumentation by the band members. They show their full skills on keyboards, bass, violin and percussion.
